Danish children's drawings for a Chinese book
These days, 40 children’s drawings inspired by H.C. Andersen's fairy tales and Christmas motifs are on the way to Beijing. Together with Chinese children’s drawings, they are to be included in a book that screenwriter Meng Xianming is about to publish.
The book is entitled "Flying Days" and is created based on the film "Yue Yue is coming to Denmark", which was shot in 2018-19 in Denmark and China, respectively. At that time, the two girls, Yue Yue from China and Amy from Denmark, went to kindergarten.

To be released in July
The book "Flying Days" has the same story as the film, which tells the story of the two girls Yue Yue and Amy, who meet in the kindergarten Skoven in Bogense, where they become friends, and together celebrate Christmas on the island Funen, Denmark and Chinese New Year in Zhengzhou, China. The book will be published in early July this year, and a special chapter is devoted to children's drawings with motifs based on inspiration taken from H.C. Andersen's fairytale world, landscapes and Christmas motifs.
The Christmas motifs were a little hard for the kids to recreate at this time of year, whereas there was plenty of inspiration to find at the H.C. Andersen statue and the large paper clips of H.C. Andersen decorating the "Box" at Nordfyns Golfklub. The educators took the children on an outdoor trip where they told fairy tales, while the children sat on benches and in the grass and created their drawings.
Film will premiere this year
The publisher behind the book saw the film and suggested Meng Xianming make it into a book. Public screening of the film has been a long time coming, and is still awaiting official approvals from Chinese authorities. First it has to be approved regionally and then by national film authorities. According to the producer, the film will be ready in the fall and distribution and marketing is already planned in China.
