Watch the dialogue between Viktor Axelsen and Li Zhenxi
Last year's CHINA DENMARK EDUCATION FORUM began by an opening conversation between Viktor Axelsen and author and former headmaster Li Zhenxi. They talked about badminton, going to school and about learning Chinese. The theme for the forum was "Well-being and the desire to learn”.
In Learn For Life, we are now preparing the 2022 edition of the Danish-Chinese well-being forum. Meanwhile, let’s have a look back at last year’s interesting conversation on the eternal theme “Well-being and the desire to learn”.…
If you have a good half hour, you may want to listen to the conversation between Viktor and Li. Among other things, Viktor talks about what drives him and how important it is to do what you enjoy. He knew early on that badminton was more important to him than anything else, and focusing on badminton has always been his own choice, a choice that his parents have supported him in.
Parental support is important – not pressure
Both agree that parents should support their children in finding out what the child finds interesting, is good at, and in which direction the child wants to go.
Li Zhenxi wants to know why Viktor has learned Chinese and how he evaluates Chinese
education. Li Zhenxi is himself an experienced and well-known teacher who has written more than
70 books on education, including the book "Happiness comes first". He has been to Funen twice, where he visited kindergartens and schools with great interest.
Desire should be the driving force
Viktor and Li Zhenxi both agree that you cannot transfer an education model directly onto
another country, but you can inspire and learn from each other and extract what suits your
situation and one's own country.
Viktor concludes the conversation by saying that badminton is both his hobby and his work: "I look forward to training every day. It's been like that ever since I was a child. It's a dream that has come true for me”.
Li Zhenxi has the same experience, he also finds that studying and working is a hobby to him.
Even Li is now retired, he still goes to work every day because he has this interest for education and young people, and you can't retire from a hobby.
China - Denmark Education Forum 2022
Planning for the 2022 edition is undertaken in collaboration with the China Education 30 Forum. Last year the theme was "Well-being and the desire to learn". This year the focus is on "Well-being and the right to be imperfect”.
