H.C. Andersen Festival 2025: Long Live Hans Christian Andersen!
Learn For Life is organizing a colorful parade celebrating Denmark’s world-famous fairy tale poet. On Saturday, August 16, the streets of Odense will be transformed into a vibrant celebration of music, colors, and magical atmosphere as we come together to honor H.C. Andersen with a joyful parade through the city.
H.C. Andersen is more than just Denmark’s greatest fairy tale poet – he is a global icon and cultural bridge-builder who has touched hearts all over the world. That’s why he deserves a world-class tribute. And he will get one when samba rhythms, theater-loving children, local citizens, and visitors come together in one big popular and diverse celebration.
The parade starts at 1:30 PM at the Fairy Tale Castle in Eventyrhaven and winds its way through the city before ending festively at Odeon in the H.C. Andersen Quarter.
Leading the way will be theater director Torben Iversen and his theater children from the H.C. Andersen Parade, flanked by the energetic samba orchestra. Together, they invite the whole city to join – regardless of age, background, or dance experience.
Come and join
The entire city and its guests are invited. Whether participants dance, clap, or simply enjoy the atmosphere, they help honor what H.C. Andersen stands for: adventure, imagination, community – and the belief that all people have value. The parade is for the whole family and a reminder that we can create magic together when we meet across cultures and generations.
