What is culture? How do we learn from each other? We do that the best when people meet across borders and backgrounds.
Culture and international understanding
We all know it: we grow wiser about ourselves and other cultures when we meet face to face. We gain respect for and insight into the fact that "our way" is not necessarily the right way. This applies to Danes, Chinese people, and people around the world.
Other countries have different backgrounds, upbringings, and worldviews than we do in Denmark. Our program offers a journey of personal and cultural formation (dannelse), providing insight into diverse values and ways of life.
Culture in different ways
The tools we use are cultural and outdoor activities such as study trips, events, film, and theater projects. The central theme is H.C. Andersen’s universe and Danish values. We integrate culture and education through visits to attractions, museums, educational institutions, and more.
H.C. Andersen himself went on journeys of cultural discovery across Europe. In total, he spent seven years traveling abroad on thirty journeys, all of which had a profound influence on his writing and worldview.
Living attractions
At the end of the day, Denmark’s greatest attraction is the Danish people. That’s why we’ve developed a "Meet the Danes" program.
What do we think? How do we live? What do we enjoy? What do we eat? What are our views on parenting, children, and the balance between work and leisure? And what are our hopes and visions for the future?
