Christmas movie and greetings from China
December 2021:
The Danish Christmas movie “The Christmas family and the Elf hotel” (Original: Familien Jul og Nissehotellet) has just premiered. In the wake of the premiere, we have received greetings from China - as several Chinese participated as extras when the movie was shot in Denmark in January 2020.
Almost two years ago, about 10 Chinese students from Nordfyns Højskole (the Northfunen Folk Highschool) participated as extras in the film “Hugo and the Elf hotel” (original: Hugo og Nissehotellet). They were in Denmark to take part in a three-month study visit at Nordfyns Højskole and went home to China just before Denmark closed down for the first time in March 2020. Their participation in the film was one of many experiences they could take back with them to China.
Christmas greetings from China
Of course, all the participants want to see the film, but it is unfortunately not possible at the moment. Meanwhile we have forwarded photos of the film and link to the trailer. Several have returned with comments. Here are some of them:
Lin Hui/ Helen (European name)
Everyone seems to be talking about Meta Universe recently. No mater how technology develops, the reality can never be replaced. But this movie gave me some new feelings. Because of the pandemic, I am far away from Denmark. At the time I heard the news of the movie’s release, the memories we have created together 2 years ago just appeared again. Imagine a digital version of you is bringing happiness to many people in a far away country. How interesting! Many thanks to Memory, to Movie, to Denmark.
Lan Jun
It's a long way to go from Shenzhen (12.5 million inhabitants in the southern part of China) to Bogense, but the movie makes us feel like we are back in Denmark. It makes us feel like we can open the door and see the forest, the sun, the castle and so many lovely people.
Lei Hui/Belinda
The movie takes me back to Denmark, the buildings and streets, the sea and sky, the people and their smiles. All these experiences they are still so vivid in my memory. Denmark is full of fairy tales, what is appearing in this Christmas movie, it’s another one.
